Get some healthy pleasures into your everyday life that help you enjoy your days even more. Surely there are some things you have thought of to help you accomplish that goal, if only you would take some time for yourself.

Many people find their happy place when they consume some chocolate. Chocolate provides a wonderful momentary escape! My children and I love smores! Grab a chocolate bar, some graham crackers, and some large marshmallow.  Break your graham cracker in half, put on a wedge of chocolate on one half of the graham, add the marshmallow on top, then the other half of the graham cracker on top of that. Put it on a paper plate or napkin into your microwave for 20 or so seconds on high, then enjoy! Using your grill is also a fun idea as time allows.

Having a girls, or guys night out also can be a terrific way to unwind. Friendships are good for you. Maybe do a date night with your spouse! One thing we enjoy is a desert and coffee out somewhere, or a fun dinner on occasion. Another great habit to ease stress is to take a walk, even with another, or a small group. That additionally provides one some exercise and a chance to chat with another.

Speaking of exercise and fitness, a medicine ball can offer you that terrific workout. We offer medicine balls like TKO medicine balls, and Valeo medicine balls. Medicine ball workouts are what help many athelets stay in top condition.

Someone with a toxoplasma infection is twice as likely to develop schizophrenia, according to Dr. Robert Yolken, of the Johns Hopkins Children’s Center.

When initially infected, most people have little more than flu type symptoms, or none at all. Young children, however, can develop a brain inflammation, or suffer heart damage, or other health complications. Pregnant women can suffer a miscarriage or their babies possible health ailments.

Felines may become infected when they eat an infected mouse or bird. The microbe would then reproduce within the cats gut. They can release in the cat’s feces.

More studies will follow in the future, but it has been noted by several sources that adults with toxoplasmosis have an increased risk of various health disorders.

In an article spotlighted in the Baltimore Sunpapers, it was noted that the Johns Hopkins University scientists were conducting an experiment to determine why people develop serious mental illness. They focused on the possibility of a common parasite being spread by cats.

These parasites, or microbes, are called toxoplasma gondii, which can invade the human brain and possibly upset its chemistry. In some people it can create psychotic behavior, known as schizophrenia. Some doctors at Johns Hopkins feel that this situation needs to be handled.

The Center For Disease Control and Prevention did a study with numerous 12 to 49 year olds that were born in the USA. About 9 % were found to be infected with T. Gondii in the early 2000’s, down from 14% in the 1990’s. They stated that infection rates may be higher in older Americans.

Schizophrenia is a severely disabling brain disorder characterized by confusion, delusions, and hallucinations. Around 1% of the US population over the age of 18 are affected at present.

People of all ages are fighting the battle of the bulge. Eating is something that most of us enjoy, but we must control ourselves. We did an article a while back on Carole Carson, who is a senior citizen who not only lost her excess weight, but kept it off. She developed an amazing program that has been adopted in over 300 communities in the USA.

Carole’s ” Meltdown ” program is even promoted by AARP, the American Association of Retired Persons, with their Fat 2 Fit Weight-Loss Challenge. Making it fun was a big part of their mission. Also they want people to be informed with ways to cut calories, eat healthy recipes, and blend in exercise. Check out Carole Carson’s awesome book, ” From Fat To Thin,” for further advice.

Speaking of exercise, have you tried a medicine ball yet? Medicine ball exercises are performed by many athletes day in day out, for building strength plus endurance. Try our Valeo Medicine Balls, or other offered medicine balls on our website. Click the highlighted link here for more information.

Who hasn’t gone through rough moments in life? Every one of us will experience some times in the valley, but we can rest assured that we aren’t alone in that.

One of my favorite verses is,  ”Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.” John 14:27 Turn to God letting Him help you through it. He won’t necessarily take it away, but He will see you through it.

There is more growth in valley experiences than mountaintop ones. Nobody enjoys the rough times, me included, but as you yield to God, He will comfort plus help you persevere. Don’t run from it; face it with God’s help!! Great mountains are climbed as we go through the challenges towards victory!

Fitball exercise balls are the perfect solution towards getting that daily exercise that you need. Take a fast look then get yours ordered today.

Don’t Take Too Much Vitamin D

While there are many people with low vitamin D levels, it can be also serious for people who take too much of the vitamin. Certain vitamins, like vitamin B and vitamin C, are excreted from our bodies, while some, like vitamin D and vitamin A, are not.

Too little vitamin D can put one at a higher risk for arthritis, cancer, osteoporosis, diabetes, heart disease, or stroke.  Too much vitamin D can actually be toxic to ones body. Symptoms can be constipation, digestive problems, or even weakness.

Check out your minimum daily amount needed. Some say that the 400 iu daily dose that some recommend, is too low. Be careful, though, and talk with your doctor. If someone is taking too much daily, like 10,000 iu, then constipation most likely will come about.

Exercise each day to feel at your best. You can even get some exercise while you sit at your desk or table, if you use one of our awesome exercise ball chairs. Take a look at our selection now while time allows. Just click on our highlighted link.

Once in a while we need to laugh. Maybe even laugh out loud! Looking at the lighter side of life helps us to release some of the stress we may be acquiring. Read these and have a laugh.

  • Sherlock Holmes and Dr. Watson were out on a camping trip deep in the English countryside. They had retired for the evening and were lying there looking up at the sky. Holmes said, ” Watson, look up and tell me what you see.” Watson said,” I see thousands of stars, plus many wonderful constellations, even shooting stars going by. The weather seems like it will remain good, even for tomorrow. We should have a fine day.” Holmes, ” what do you see?” Holmes shouted, ” Watson you fool, someone stole our tent!”
  • There was a story about twin brothers from deep in the woods who wanted to join the Air Force. The recruiting officer asked the first twin if he had any skills. He responded that he did: he was a pilot. The recruiter was excited about that. He asked the next twin what he could do, whereby he responded that he could chop wood. The recruiter said that they had no need of a wood chopper. The twin replied that he had to chop wood before his brother could ‘ pile it.’
  • Knock Knock.   Who’s there?   Little Old Lady.    Little Old Lady Who?     I didn’t know you could yodel!!
  • Henny Youngman said that he flew his own plane for two years………………………….But, then the rubber band broke!

Well, hopefully you enjoyed these few jokes. Keep on laughing every day!

Sport Drinks 2

The goal of Sport Drinks is to keep ones body hydrated. For recovery, certain sport drinks, like Gatorade G3, provide protein in addition to the carbohydrates and electrolytes. The protein helps our muscles rebuild.

If anyone is heavily exercising, such as for a triathlon or a sports tournament, then a sports drink will help fill in the gaps where meals may not fully cover. Even for ones that run long distances, sports drinks can help.

Water is the main drink that we should constantly be drinking. The many other drinks available may be ones we desire, but they might not be necessary. Make sure to stay hydrated. Your urine color can tell you a lot. If your urine is too yellow, then you need to drink more water!

Just remember that from Elena’s research, she found that sport drinks are not fully needed unless you are involved in one hour to an hour and a half of rigorous exercise.

Speaking of exercise, try one of our Pilates Mats, featured on our website. These make your home gym workouts safer, more fun, plus better for your body.

Sports Drinks With Workouts

posted by Bill J 7:35 AM

In an insightful article by Elena Conis in the Tribune newspaper, she answered the question, do we really need to drink sports drinks? If you are headed to the gym, should you take along a sports drink?

Sport Drinks are mostly water with added ingredients; usually sodium, potassium, sugar, and protein. The sugar amount typically is about 15 to 18 grams per 8 ounce serving.

For the most part Elena found that we don’t normally need it if we are eating three square meals per day. Sport drinks may be helpful if we are exercising rigorously for an hour to an hour and a half. Going for a ten mile run or a 100 mile bike ride could warrant the need for a sport drink.

For that home exercise tool that will help your workouts, consider Valeo Exercise Balls.
