Fads come and go, but many people get caught up in them. Kids are easy targets, because they just have to have what their friends have. At least they think so!
My kids have gone wacky in buying and possessing numerous ‘Chinese Erasers.” These erasers come in hundreds, maybe thousands, of shapes. A month ago I even saw ones that were ninjas, kitchen goods, even a toilet. These are most likely erasers that kids seldom erase with, but only collect and trade. It seems like every store that caters to kids has them!
Kids are going wild with a product called Silly Bandz. Just like the erasers, maybe even more-so, there are a wide variety of these Silly Bandz to choose from. many kids wear them on their wrists, possibly a dozen or so different ones at once. They seem to break easily, but they are cheap enough to have many at once.
How long will those two fads last? My guess is that they will die off this year at some point, then something new will take its place. In a time when technology has really taken off, with very expensive gadgets, it is no wonder that many kids enjoy the ease of purchase of these types of fads.
