Lower Your Risk Of Breast Cancer 2

One thing to follow up from yesterday is to mention that walking, for thirty minutes or more daily, is the best exercise, per many studies. Jogging, dancing, swimming, and numerous other forms of exercise and fitness surely are beneficial too. The key ingredient is to get that exercise each day if you can.

Stay clear of alcohol, or keep your consumption low, to help lower your risk of breast cancer, among other health setbacks. Alcohol can also add in those extra calories, plus make you eat more with it.

While taking vitamin D can help strengthen your bones, there is no real evidence that taking it will help lower your risk of breast cancer.

The average age at which women have been diagnosed with breast cancer is age 62, while the highest rates are for women aged 70 plus. Even though my Mother still states that antiperspirants can cause cancer, there is no conclusive evidence as of yet.  Family history of breast cancer surely plays a part in the risk of getting breast cancer, but taking these preventative medicine steps can still lower your risk.

For more information on this subject, use a search engine like Google. Since exercising can help, now is a great time to do what many athletes do and use medicine balls, like the Valeo Medicine Balls.

Life can be running along smoothly, but then you get word that you or a loved one have cancer. Surely there is the chance you can get cancer no matter how careful you are, but you still can take measures to lower your risk of getting it. We will focus on taking some extra steps to lower your chances of getting breast cancer in these articles.

Numerous health journals and articles will give advice, but we wanted to zero in on some study results from the Nutrition Action Health Letter. Dr. Walter Willett at Harvard said that it is important for adult women to avoid weight gain. Taking hormones increases ones risk also, so if you stay off hormones plus watch your weight, your risk of breast cancer is lowered dramatically.

One other way for women to lower their risk of breast cancer is to exercise more often. Numerous studies have shown that regular exercise and fitness is great for weight control, lowering your risk of cancer, plus numerous other health benefits. To experience a new way of exercising, try Fitball Exercise Balls. We have them available, plus much more on our website.

In a recent issue of the Nutrition Action Health Letter, they revealed what they found to be true super foods. These are foods that are great for our health in many ways. Over the next few days we will give you their list. Here are the first ones:

  • Avocados- they offer higher potassium levels than bananas, ounce for ounce, which helps our blood pressure, among other health benefits. They also have vitamins E & B6, folate, and fiber.
  • Blueberries- Antioxidant rich fruit, with good fiber, & vitamin C. These can boost brain power plus help your vision.
  • Brazil Nuts- These can help fight cancer cells, promote DNA repair, and boost our immune system.
  • Broccoli- Awesome vegetable for cancer blocking.
  • Butternut Squash- Like tomatoes, they are a fruit, due to the seeds. High in beta-carotene; great for our bone health.

Learn to gravitate towards healthy eating, even if you hit the foods on occasion that are not good for you. I enjoy ice cream, but seek to primarily eat healthy meals. You can do it!

When I eat too much of the wrong thing, my whole personality might change. If it includes lots of sugar, then I feel the drag after it wears off. Eating healthy doesn’t have to mean boring. This time of year, the fresh fruit is readily available. Pack some to take with you plus keep some washed and ready to eat when the hunger bug hits. Fresh blueberries are not only a terrific treat, but they can be great for your health. They even attack cancer causing free radicals within your body.

Every day, take a moment to get outside and breath the air. Relax a moment or get in a walk or jog. The outdoors can help boost your mood. Listen to some music you enjoy. Exercise to some faster pace music! Enjoy some simple pleasures like a lemonade on your deck or out back. Look at the stars at night. Maybe do something that you have wanted to do, but haven’t yet or for a while.

Most times we are so busy that our schedule may be too hectic. On occasion, if you can’t get away, act like you are on ‘ island time.’ Move about more slowly without being in such a rush! that may be for just a day, but it can be a stress reducer. I got a recent opportunity to get on my hammock for a one hour break to read. That was what the doctor ordered!

Make a list of some things you can do to help you shift gears. Life has enough stress of its own!

Healthy eating, exercise, proper rest/sleep, are some of the keys to living a healthy, fuller life. When you think about it, it is truly amazing that our hearts go beating on and on! Even batteries we use, or anything we use for that matter, have a very limited life. Our hearts can’t stop beating: that’s a given. So any way you can strengthen your heart is important.

Many people suffer from high cholesterol. Medication is often prescribed by doctors to help ones lower their elevated cholesterol. Even though studies of omega 3 lowering ones cholesterol are still sketchy, they do show that omega 3 has a positive effect on lowering levels of triglycerides, which is a type of fat that can contribute to heart disease.

People that have high blood pressure have shown some improvement with taking omega 3 on a regular basis. There are many benefits from omega 3, so start taking a supplement, after talking with your doctor, plus eat some tasty broiled salmon or other fish consistently.

Omega 3 For Heart Health

Hopefully you have started or you have been taking Omega 3 on a regular basis. Since your body does not make Omega 3, you must take it. You can get all you need by eating fish regularly. Salmon, especially wild salmon, as well as tuna, herring, mackerel, bluefish, anchovies, and sardines, are a great source for omega 3.

Research shows that omega 3 plays a real role in reducing the chances of sudden death, such as from cardiac arrest. One study had showed that fish eaters in a group of 1,000 male heart disease patients had 29% fewer heart attacks and 50% fewer cases of sudden death caused by an irregular heart beat.

A report in the European Heart Journal focused on a study that revealed how men who ate fatty fish once a week were 12% less likely to develop heart failure than those who that did not eat fish. The study also showed that in their group of 11,000 participants, the ones who took omega 3 capsules had a 45% drop in the risk of sudden death and a 20% reduction in ” all cause mortality.”

Find a way to get your daily omega 3 intake. As a person who also has heart disease, my doctor told me several years back to start taking 3,000mg of omega 3 daily. So far so good! Then eating fish once or twice a week is a bonus!

Summer is almost here, so get regular workouts with Valeo exercise balls. Good for all ages, durable, effective, and fun!!

Omega 3 Helps

In a group called ” essential fatty acids,” Omega 3 is being heralded as a biological shield against heart disease, arthritis, skin problems, and more.

EPA and DHA are two components of Omega 3, while ALA is converted in our bodies to EPA or DHA. EPA is short for Eicosapentaenoic Acid, while DHA is short for Docosahexaenoic Acid. DHA is now thought to constitute the ‘building blocks’ of the brain, forming about 8% of the brain by weight. EPA is now considered by some leading doctors and professors in the UK as being the single most vital nutrient in the functioning of the brain and nerve stimulation.

Current intakes of DHA are approximately 20% of the target (300 mg/day) suggested by an expert scientific group during pregnancy and lactation. The extremely low intake of DHA in young children (e.g., approximately 19 mg DHA/day on average for 3-yr. olds in North America) is also of particular concern. Current intakes of DHA/EPA (combined) of 130 mg/day are approximately 15% of the target (900 mg/day) officially recommended by the American Heart Association for those with coronary heart disease and 20% of the 650 mg/day advised by an expert scientific group for healthy individuals.

Recently there was an article in Parade Magazine about the benefits of  taking an Omega 3 supplement every day. Each of us has the same desire to look and feel our best. Many people take some sort of vitamin, supplement, or something else, to help give them what they feel they need.

Research has shown a wide range of benefits one can receive from taking Omega 3 on a regular basis. Our bodies cannot produce, or make Omega 3, so we either must eat it or take it.

Tomorrow we will continue with this topic, so stop back. Getting some daily exercise is important too, so why not try asomething new, like an exercise ball. Gaiam Exercise Balls provide you fun, effective workouts. Take a moment to look at them on our website right now.

Results With Omega 3

An omega 3 fat found in fish oil reduces the risk of precancerous intestinal polyps in people who may have a genetic predisposition to get polyps and colon cancer, according to a  recent report written about in the Nutrition Action Newsletter.

Some researchers, who randomly assigned 55 people who fit their criteria, ran a research test to study Omega 3 against polyps. They had the 55 people take either 2 grams daily of EPA or a placebo for six months. After the six months ended, the patients who had taken the EPA, had 22% fewer polyps than the placebo takers. Any polyps that the EPA takers had were 30% smaller than the placebo takers.

This shows that fish oils, especially Omega 3, can have a great effect on your health, even heart health. Additionally fish oil may lower the risk of colon cancer.
