crunches-2Some of the exercises that helped me ,and still do, are the rotational stretch; lie on your back with your knees bent and legs together, then rotate your legs together down sideways to the ground, hold at least 10 seconds then do it the other way; repeat several times. You will notice  your lower back feels like it’s stretching. Next the knees to chest, as you are lying on the floor; hold for 20 seconds or longer then repeat. Another is the breathe  in, while lying down, then hold your breath for 10 plus seconds, then repeat several times.

For other exercises Google “back exercises”, or check out  the Mayo Clinic site. The key is to strengthen those areas, so you won’t ever have a problem. Doing these exercises even a few times per week will be a good preventative medicine. Health information is readily available via the internet, your doctor, or at any health clinic. Books are also available through Amazon.com on our website or at your local library.

Obesity may also play a role in someones back pain. Seek a heart healthy diet to lead to healthy weight loss. Take steps each day to follow a healthier diet. Exercise is vital also. After sitting for a while at a desk or in a chair, our backs should welcome a brief walk around the block or area. A fifteen to thirty minute walk  helps your blood to circulate throughout your body and may help your fatigued muscles be healed. You can also clear your head and breath some fresh air. A little vitamin D on your skin from the sun is not bad either. Walking plus other exercising will be great for persona and emotional health.

An occasional back massage is a wonderful thing too. Maybe have your partner or a friend give you a mini massage, then reciprocate. Whatever methods you choose for a healthier back, just keep at it.  Let me know of any information you would like to share. Here’s wishing you success in having a happy, healthy back,
