new-food-pyramidNow we can look at what are some of the foods you should eat. Foods that will help you in your life’s journey to seek to ward off various health problems, such as the ones we discussed in yesterday’s article.

For the most part eat fruits and vegetables, grains ( mainly whole grains), fat free or low-fat milk products, fish, lean meats, beans, eggs, and nuts.Limit the foods with saturated fat, trans fat, excess sodium, and too much sugar. Fat free products normally are higher in calories, so be careful. Refer to an earlier article that explained the Food Pyramid.

We offer a selection of  health books that will help you learn more about healthy eating and getting the best fuel for the body. Alsobook you can go online and check for heart healthy diet plans. One popular one is the MYPYRAMID eating plan, developed by the US Department of Agriculture and the US Department of Health & Human Services.

We need to limit the amount of sodium that we consume on a daily basis to be less then 2300mg. That equals only about one teaspoon. People with hypertension should limit there consumption to 2/3 of that amount. Always check the sodium content on the Nutrition Facts label when considering what foods to buy.  Eating healthy can become a way of life just like getting proper exercise and fitness. Keep at it, even after you mess up at some point, because the rewards are worth the effort.
