America is  a very religious nation, according to a recent national poll by Parade Magazine. Our nation was said to be built on a foundation of strong faith, and that hasn’t necessarily changed.

It was polled that 69% of Americans believe in God, 77% pray outside of church, and 75% believe it’s a parent’s responsibility to give children a religious upbringing. Even though 45% of those polled called themselves religious, 50% of those said they seldom or never attend worship services. Around 27% said that they don’t practice any kind of religion. Only 5% said that they didn’t believe in God, 7% were unsure of God’s existence, and 12% didn’t believe in afterlife.

Around 24% of the respondents put themselves into a whole new category, spiritual but not religious. About 82% would consider marrying someone of a different faith, and 78% said they would never think of converting to another religion. While 24% said that their religion was the most important thing in their life, 33% said that it was important, but not the most important thing.
