Last week there was a fabulous article by Shari Roan about vitamin D possibly reducing ones risk of heart disease. She stated that research showed that where some had raised their intake of vitamin D in their blood, were able to reduce their risk of heart disease by 30%.
Some observational studies had linked heart disease with low vitamin D levels. It has been unclear if the people with low vitamin D levels have more heart disease because of that vitamin deficiency or for other reasons, such as lack of exercise or being overweight. Studies will continue with the results being shown in the future.
In other similar tests, over 9,000 people who were diagnosed with low vitamin D. About half of those, who had started to take more vitamin D, showed less heart disease than in their prior test. Ones who had a vitamin D deficiency, showed more heart disease then the group who had higher vitamin D.
